Meet Pauline McCullough. Pauline is actually my mom! In keeping with the parenting theme this month, I decided why not just go ahead & air this practice episode that we recorded back in March of this year. My mom was a trooper, agreeing to let me interview her so I could get some practice with podcast hosting. And while this is probably not my best work…and although the audio is sub-par (as we had not yet begun recording in studio), I really appreciated our conversation and thought it would be particularly relevant to share with you this month. In this episode we talk about my mom’s experience with raising 2 toddlers, while simultaneously taking on a full time caregiver role for her terminally ill mother. After the passing of my grandmother she went on to raise us as a single mom, with very little means. My mom made a series of unconventional choices she felt were in the best interest of her children, one being the decision not to date or remarry until her kids were out of the house. A choice that was super confusing to just about everyone! My mom also made a conscious decision to co-parent in a manner that eliminated any contention between herself and the father of her children. So much of who I am and the way I parent and co-parent with my son’s dad can be credited back to my mother, her positive example, and how I was raised. I hope you guys enjoy the episode because I am so proud to share her story with you!
