Meet Michelle. She is a former Chico State college athlete who grew up in a nice home with two loving parents. Michelle is a happily married wife with 3 adult thriving children, and she has worked in the field of education as both a middle school teacher and a high school principal for the past 20 years. With a happy childhood, college education and teaching degree, combined with her achievements in college basketball that earned her a spot on the Chico State athletic hall of fame, there was no reason to think Michelle’s future would be anything but bright. But behind the scenes she wrestled with a secret. Her tumultuous love affair with alcohol, spanning over 30 years, nearly destroyed her life. With almost 2 years of sobriety today, Michelle joins us on the podcast to tell us her story. What her story teaches us is that alcoholism does not discriminate based on gender, age, race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. From coal miners and truck drivers to attorneys and physicians, alcoholism is an equal opportunity destroyer.
