Part 2- My conversation with Aimee continues. We discuss the fertility industry as a whole and the notion of capitalizing on desperation. We also talk about Aimee’s plans going forward, scheduling infertility treatments around work, and her thoughts on surrogacy and adoption.
Following her divorce at age 37, Aimee took her first steps into the world of infertility. Many of us spend our younger years avoiding pregnancy with the expectation of it coming easily later on, when we have the means to support a child, or a partner to parent with…or both. We take for granted that when we choose to start our family that our bodies will comply. We assume if we decide to wait until our careers are established, our relationship is intact, and our lifestyle permits, that this option will still be there…ready and waiting for us. But oftentimes this is not the case. After spending over 6 figures in her effort to start a family using fertility treatments, Aimee was well on her way to being pregnant with twins just 3 weeks ago. But on September 1st she received the unfortunate news that her embryos didn’t make it. In this episode Aimee tells us her story and sheds light into a world that many women are living in, yet seldom talk about.
